Dr. D uses a variety of techniques to meet the needs of her patients. When choosing a technique the most important thing she considers is what is safe for a patient’s body. This is followed very closely by what feels safe for the person being adjusted. Body’s cannot heal in states of defense and protection so this is a very important aspect to communicate as you are going through your chiropractic care. Some common techniques that Dr. D uses are:
Diversified Technique – This is the style of chiropractic where a chiropractor uses their hands to manually adjust a person’s subluxations. Oftentimes, it is accompanied by a popping or cracking sound as the joint moves through its restricted range of motion. This is a great technique but it’s not for everyone. For example, we don’t use diversified on babies or people with brittle bones.

Instrument Adjusting – Dr. D has both Activator and Impulse adjusting tools. These are very effective, very well researched instruments that are much more gentle on the body than a diversified adjustment. She may choose to use them if you feel uncomfortable with the idea of having pops and cracks, or if you’re in a significant amount of pain and your body tells her it’s not ready for a manual impulse. She uses these tools on children who are on the move during their adjustment as well as for adults who are more comfortable being adjusted in a seated position. She also has Drop Tables and Pelvic Blocks to aid her. What matters most is that there is flexibility in how she is able to care for you no matter how you show up for each appointment.
